February 1, 2015 Verse of the Day

The month of February I will devote to Scripture verses about love. There are three types of love found in the Bible. There is Eros love, which is just what it sounds like- it is love that means desire and longing. Next, is Agape love- which is an unconditional love- the love that Christ has for us. Finally, there is Phileo love, which is the love we have for others- it refers to loving someone like a brother (or sister).

Today's verse centers around loving your enemies. I'll be the first to admit, it can be truly hard to love someone that has (or is) hurting you. When someone is hateful to you- your very first instinct is to get even, right? We shouldn't feel this way.

Instead, we should love them. We should give to them. Now, that's not to say let them walk all over you- you're not a doormat- but show them the love of Christ. In some cases, you treating them so well will open their eyes and they'll be good to you.

With Love,

Krista
